With construction cranes filling the skyline, and new businesses opening weekly, downtown Worcester is in the midst of a transformation, and the City of Worcester is looking to make the Worcester Common the hub of it all.
City Manager Edward M. Augustus, Jr. has challenged his staff and the community to make 2017 the biggest year on the Common yet. So the City of Worcester is launching #Worcester100, a campaign to bring 100 events to the area of the Common this year.
Returning for its 8th season, the Out to Lunch Concert Series and Farmers' Market brings live bands, outdoor performers, artisans, nonprofits, food, farms and fun! Created by the Worcester Cultural Coalition, the #MakeArtEverywhere campaign promotes the encouragement and ability to use your creative license in all situations with no limitations. This hashtag, along with the City of Worcester's #Worcester100 campaign, are only 2 of the many interactions of Out to Lunch this summer. Join us every Thursday this summer for fun for the entire family!
The rink, aptly named the Worcester Common Oval and located directly behind Worcester City Hall at 455 Main Street, is professionally managed by SMG, the DCU Center's talented management team. The 12,000-square-foot rink, which is 4,000 square feet larger than the size of the Rink at Rockefeller Center, is complete with amenities such as piped-in music, skate rentals, concessions, holiday lights and more, making it a fun and affordable family-friendly activity.
